Dance Centre Kenya
Established in 2015, Dance Centre Kenya (DCK) first opened in Karen with an inaugural performance on a makeshift stage in the gardens of the Purdy Arms without tutus, lighting or sets.
Now, just seven years later, the shows transformed to the spectacular ballets on the stage of the Kenya National Theatre, with Nutcracker as an annually returning highlight. DCK has grown to become Kenya’s pre-eminent dance school with over 500 students taking classes in three locations across Nairobi. The beautiful Karen/Hardy studios are located at the Hardy Post Shopping Centre.
DCK offers classes in a wide range of styles, including ballet, hip hop, contemporary, tap dance, and gymnastics, for dancers as young as two years old and up. With a ballet training program based on the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus and annual examinations, as well as multiple performance opportunities, DCK provides aspiring dancers with so much more than just technical training. Additionally, DCK's commitment to reaching into the Kenyan community and finding talented students, irrespective of their ability to pay, has resulted in dancers of all backgrounds making it onto the stage.
